| Letter from Swampscott Superintendent Matthew Malone Sat, 26 Jul 2008 06:00:00 EDT July 22, 2008 Dear School Committee, What follows is my response to each of the five areas outlined by the SEA in their "Vote of No Confidence" letter which they sent to the media on June 23, 2008. As directed by the School Committee, my response is based on the facts as I know them. Although the SEA claims in their letter that their complaints are not limited to the five areas that they have outlined, since they did not state them, I can only respond to their five bulleted items. However, I will gladly respond to the School Committee as directed if the SEA chooses to make additional complaints public. I hope that in the future, the SEA directs their concerns to me first before trying their case in public as I believe this has been a distraction from the real work of teaching and learning and has done nothing to increase public confidence in our school system. |
